Auction for Oaxaca Street Children

Soroptimist International Central Yavapai Sunrise (SICYS) proudly announces an online auction of over eighty memory box shrines, original art pieces that all started with a simple cigar box. Led by SICYS member and artist Rebecca Brooks, the shrines were donated by artists from all over the world to support the efforts of Street Children of Oaxaca Grassroots. Oaxaca’s poorest families cannot afford education, basic health care, or a nutritious meal for their children. Government services are minimal and difficult to access. Education is not “free” in Mexico as it is in the US, so the poorest often must choose between feeding their children or sending them to school. Following the international mission of Soroptimists to support programs for women and children, the proceeds from this auction will send children in Oaxaca, Mexico to school.
